A Brief History of Crawler Tractors
Even though the name"bulldozer" has been in existence for quite a while, the nickname refers to the initial crawler tractors developed from the early 1900s (that were formerly called"traxcavators.")
The concept of crawlers has been in existence since the 1800s. Regrettably, it was quite difficult to maneuver, and it wasn't any brakes.
A lot of different designs were made by different inventors within those initial two decades of the 1900s, together with the very first gas-powered crawler being produced by two Californians in 1906. A couple years after, a few of the competitors merged together, and from 1925 the Caterpillar Tractor Company has been set
Newer designs of crawlers created from the 20s and afterward could be maneuvered over almost any kind of terrains, such as sand, stones, steep inclines, and moist surfaces. The cleated tracks made it feasible to haul the deepest timber over the most dangerous paths. The first real"bulldozer" was created in 1924 when a scraper blade was attached to the surface of a crawling tractor, which makes it feasible for the dozer to pull clean and logs through rough forest areas to produce the way for wood trucks.
